Edamame.....

So how did I go so long during my quest for a healthier me without knowing about edamame? I met up a with a couple girlfriends of mine this weekend and over a some prickely pear margaritas we talked about all kinds of girly things :D, sex lives, the messed up children we keep our kids away from at school and the horrible parents they must have, our evening walks together, an awesome produce supply coop in our area where you get about $60 worth of produce for $16, the cult called mormonism were subjected to daily round here and lots of other things ;). One of those things was edamame. This stuff is awesome, its easy to prepare, cheap and great for you!!

Here's what you'll find in a half-cup serving of shelled edamame (or 1 1/8 cup edamame in the pods):

120 calories
9 grams fiber
2.5 grams fat
1.5 grams polyunsaturated fat (0.3 grams plant omega-3 fatty acids)
0.5 gram monounsaturated fat
11 grams protein
13 grams carbohydrate
15 mg sodium
10% of the Daily Value for vitamin C
10% Daily Value for iron
8% Daily Value for vitamin A
4% Daily Value for calcium

Only down side for me is its soy, and as my fellow hypothyroid sufferers will know, soy in large ammounts is said to be a no-no due to the isoflavones effects on the thyroid gland. But wow, I LOVE this stuff and its so rare to find so much protien and fiber in such small quantities of food that are also low in calories.

DD LOVED these and that in itself is such a blessing, she has proclaimed herself a near vegetarian, she truely hates meat for the most part. So glad to have another option for her :D. She enjoyed them so much she begged for more ;) what a great thing to say about a veggie!!!!

Girls Scouts Rocks

So dd and I had the best time together friday night. Just she and I went to a mom and daughter pajama party. We checked in and donated a bag of essentials for the local womans shelter (girls pj's, toothbrush and tooth paste, shampoo, outfit and undies). There was dancing :D, we did the stroll, the hokey pokey, the macarena and to many more to name. We painted eachother toes and decorated flip flops together. I did her hair for her in several styles, she never lets me mess with her hair so this was a special treat for me :D. I cant wait for the next mother daughter event!!! I find myself wishig more and more I could go to gs camp with her, maybe next year....

A copy and paste from my igoogle spot

So Ive started playing around with the widget I made for my igoogle personalized page and thought Id post one of my thoughts from over there lest I loose it playing around.

The soapbox: Men can be such children, sometimes they just cant do anything for themselves. For instance, just yesterday my dh needs carmex, I tell him three times its on my keys in the diaper bag. But like a helpless child he waits until he can ask him mommy for some when we get to her house, UGH. Little sis and mommy cater to him after he says his lips are bleeding profusely cause I wont get him any , it drives me batty, its like hes 2 not 34. Not to mention that after getting three kids and myself ready to go to HIS mothers house while he sat his lazy butt on the couch sleeping and watching tv makes me even less likely to do anything for him. MEN, sometimes they are so useless.

ON the positive side of things though, he doesn't do this all of the time, its just ocassionally, although it has been often this past week and Im sure that is where my irritation is coming from, and I supposed that if this is my biggest gripe about dh, were pretty well off ;). After all there are women out there who put up with drug addicts and men who beat them and cheaters too. Ill count myself lucky to have the man I do, a man who likes working to take care of his family, likes it that Im a SAHM but supports me too if I decided to go back to school and work, a man who on occasion cooks, clean and does laundry too and who finds himself wildly attracted to me no matter if Im pregnant with his children, super thin or carrying the weight left from three pregnancies. All in all, Im a lucky woman ;) with a wonderful life.

MIL hits the nail on the head

Letting go of things weighing you down for a long period of time can be so liberating :). My MIL said this to me just yesterday and I so agree, while she is letting go of caring for 2 of her grandchildren and I am letting go of something completly different we are still on the same page. And lets face it, being on the same page as your MIL can be a rare thing ;) even when you like your her :D!!

And so this brings me to, why is it so hard to let go of things in you life that are no longer suiting you, things that are doing more harm than good, things that are pulling negativity into your life? Why is it so hard to move on to other more prodcutive areas of your life and focus on the good? What other reasons than the typical change is hard.......

So very disturbed

So if you have never seen the movie Trainspotting, DONT. It will haunt you forever if your like me. I had heard of this movie before, heard it was quite someting to watch. I figured it was just really bad druggy behavoir. I wish it had not been on cable while I couldn't sleep two nights ago (and by not sleep I dont mean insomnia, I mean cant sleep cause Lexie wanted to stay up till like 10:30 PM, its becoming pretty common unfortunatly). I had no clue what I was in for. I knew it was about scottish heroine addicts but I didnt expect the dead-neglected-baby scene that was beyond any horrid scene I could ever dream up. That image will forever be burned in my brain and I wish I could get it out. It is awful beyond belief. I could never even describe the feelings this one scene has provked in me. I couldn't watch anymore after that so I never finished the movie, nor will I. I am sickened and will be forever haunted by this movie scene.....

David Cook

WOW, Need I say more on this guy really!! He is one talented guy, at this point he deserves to win Idol. Carly Rocks too but just isnt quite as good as David Cook. I also think Michael Johns has potential but isnt quite ready to realize it yet and Brook too. The rest have become quite hohum IMO
